College Counseling Leaders - Discuss This

UPCOMING ZOOM EVENT:

Basic Needs & Mental Health: A Discussion with Sara Abelson and The Hope Center

Tuesday, May 7 at 12pm EST

As we come to the close of the 2023-24 AY, we’re inviting you to join an important discussion on the state of basic needs and mental health on college campuses + Ask Me Anything (AMA) with higher education change agent and public health expert working at the intersection of research and practice, Sara Abelson, PhD, MPH, Senior Director of Training and Education at The Hope Center for Student Basic Needs and Assistant Professor at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.

BetterMynd’s “College Counseling Leaders Discuss This Series” is a recurring, remote meeting focused on bringing the community together for a focused participatory conversation on important topics in college counseling. It’s hosted by Kate Wolfe-Lyga, BetterMynd’s VP of Clinical Operations and former SUNY Counseling Center Director.

Dr. Abelson is offering our community a rare space to learn from her work and engage in open dialogue – you won’t want to miss out! Note that this session will not include the usual breakout groups in an effort to support open Q&A and idea sharing across the entire audience.

As a reminder: No recordings! Join Kate and Sara live and come ready to both learn and contribute.

To help jumpstart questions, we encourage you to explore some of Sara’s work and research in advance of the event:

About BetterMynd’s College Counseling Leaders Discuss This Series:

BetterMynd is providing this space because we believe the role of college counseling leadership on campus is critical and irreplaceable in ensuring students receive the mental health support they need.

Through this recurring series, we want to deepen our existing campus relationships, create new ones, and learn from this community of professionals. No sales pitch (we promise), just Kate, community, and salient topics.
